About The Gym

The Electric City Rock Gym is a full-service rock indoor rock climbing gym that offers a fun and challenging experience for climbers of all levels. The gym is located in the Center City Sportsplex in downtown Schenectady, NY. The Electric City Rock Gym offers some of the best climbing around.

From the main climbing wall, the tallest in the Capital Region, to the top level bouldering area, the Electric City Rock Gym offers something for everyone. The gym is air conditioned for cool comfort during the hot summer days and nights and has a brand new locker room with showers.

The Electric City Rock Gym also offers specials for parties, group events, teambuilders, corporate outings, instructional classes, summer fun camps for kids, outdoor guided trips, and top level climbing routes for rock climbing enthusiasts, and "gym rats" all levels.

The Electric City Rock Gym opened in May 2001 and has been growing ever since. The main climbing wall is unique within itself and unlike any other climbing surface in the region. The wall was designed and installed by Entre Prise Climbing Systems and is called the Imprint System. The wall is a series of interchangeable panels that are textured to look like real rock features. This is unique to the Capital Region and most of the New York State, in that it offers the climber a chance to not only "pull down on plastic" but allows for moves to be made using the intricacies of the wall surface just like you would at your favorite climbing area or crag.
